- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Democrat Barack Obama leads Republican John McCain in the Buckeye State, according to a poll by Insider Advantage. 49 per cent of respondents in Ohio would vote for the Illinois senator in this year’s United States presidential election, while 44 per cent would back the Arizona senator.

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Sweden’s centre-left parties are the group of choice for most voters, according to a poll by Demoskop published in Expressen. 54 per cent of respondents would support the Workers’ Party - Social-Democrats (S), the Environmental Party - The Greens (MP), or the Left Party (Vp) in the next general election, down 2.2 points since July.

Belarusians Talk of Fear of Expression
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - Many adults in Belarus say that people are afraid to talk about their political views openly, according to a poll by the Independent Institute for Social, Economic and Political Studies (IISEPS). 39.1 per cent of respondents say that many people hold fears about speaking out, while 22.1 per cent say only some people are afraid.

Czech Still Want Vote on U.S. Missile Deal

- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The Estonian Reform Party (ER) has a strong lead over all its rivals, according to a poll by TNS Emor. 34 per cent of respondents would vote for the governing party in the next legislative election, down two points since August.

PASOK, Governing ND Tied in Greece
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The opposition Pan-Hellenic Socialist Movement (PASOK) and the governing New Democracy (ND) party are even in Greece, according to a poll by MRB published in Eleftheros Typos. 29.4 per cent of respondents would vote for PASOK in the next general election, while 29.3 per cent would support the ND.

Pro-European GERB Remains First in Bulgaria
- (Angus Reid Global Monitor) - The Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (GERB) party remains the most popular political organization in the country, according to a poll by Alpha Research. 23.5 per cent of respondents would vote for the pro-European party in the next general election, up 1.8 points since July.
